IBAN code is an internationally standardized code that identifies the country, branch, and account number of a bank account. IBAN stands for “International Bank Account Number”.
Originally developed to facilitate international money transfers within the EU, it was standardized by the European Banking Association and ISO. The code consists of an alphabet (2 characters) for the country name + check digit (2 characters) + bank code and bank account number (maximum 30 characters) for each country.
Please be aware that if you perform an international remittance to a country that uses the IBAN code without entering the code information, problems such as delayed or returned deposits and additional fees may occur.
